Auto repair in the United States is split between independent shops, dealership service departments and national chains. Independents handle most routine work (oil changes, brakes, tune-ups, check-engine diagnostics) at lower labor rates and often specialize in one make or in imports; dealers keep factory tools, software and warranty authority; chains sell speed and standard pricing on maintenance items. Most shops charge a diagnostic fee, credited toward the repair if you go ahead, and quote parts and labor separately. Certification matters: look for ASE-certified technicians and, in many states, a state repair license posted at the counter. Written estimates are required by law in most states before work begins, and you are entitled to your old parts if you ask.

Fort Worth is in Texas, in the South, where summers are hot and humid, winters are short, and severe storms in spring are a fact of life; businesses run air conditioning most of the year and many open early to beat the heat. A friend of mine recommended I take my truck there after getting another price quote on some upgrades and my suspension rebuild. At first when I pulled up I was a little reluctant because the neighborhood seemed a bit sketchy and the people in the neighborhood were as well. I was actually going to leave before talking to Eric but he was already there and I'm sure glad I didn't. As I pulled up to the bay Eric, who is a very friendly guy and a very knowledgeable person took care of me right away with a cold water, a firm handshake and a friendly smile and we began to discuss the problems with my vehicle. He put me up on the lift and took a look and explained to me my options. I originally came to try and and save money on some upgrades from another company that they suggested I need. Eric told me that although he'd love to take my money he wasn't going to sell me something I didn't need. Not only did the other guy try to upsell me on some upgrades that I didn't need he was overcharging me on my main problem. I'm so glad I went to Cowboys rebuilt suspension to get my work done. Eric saved me money on some great quality work and did not try to upsell me on stuff I didn't need. I highl
